I picked up some new toys last week!
I’ve been wanting to upgrade my lighting package for quite a while now and I finally took the plunge. I got a pair of 10′ aluminum trusses from XSF, hung some Chauvet light fixtures on them, spent Friday night programming in my driveway, mapped my scenes to a little MIDI keyboard, and BOOM! Epic dance party!
Saturday night was my 2nd year performing at the “Rocken’ Raiser”- an awesome event that raises money for Rockenbaugh Elementary School- part of Southlake Carroll ISD. I can’t say exactly how much money they raised, but between the live auction, the silent auction, and ticket sales (that place was packed!) I’m pretty sure it was in the gajillions.
The Marq in Southlake is possibly my favorite spot to play in DFW. It’s a brand new place with a big stage, easy load-in, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and very modern amenities and A/V. Perfect for an event of this size. Plus it’s less than a mile away from my house, so I may be a little biased 🙂
I was so impressed with this
event- the guests were all so excited to be there, were dressed to the nines, and after wrapping up my live set and the auction, they literally never left the dance floor all night! I played a really fun set that started with some 90’s grooves and hip-hop, built through some mid-tempo funk, and ended with some really dance and pop/house remixes that had feet moving and hands in the air. Awesome!
Thanks so much to the Rockenbaugh PTO for having me- to all of the volunteers that put this on, and especially to Angela Hamilton for bringing me back for the 2nd time. My buddy Greg Luce took the video on an iPad, and I was able to put this all together in an hour or two using iMovie. Too fun.
I’m so grateful to the community of Southlake for always being so supportive of what I do, and for giving me opportunities like this. You’ve definitely given me the coolest job in the world!
